Utah Congressman Jim Matheson visited a Monument Valley area solar energy home to learn more about the Navajo Electrification Demonstration Project. He spent less than 30 minutes at the residence of a NTUA Photovoltaic customer. That’s all the time he needed.
“I can see why this (solar energy) system is needed out here,” Congressman Matheson said, looking over a solar panel placed outside an isolated home just south of Monument Valley.
“Just from looking, it’s easy to see why extending electrical lines over this terrain would be difficult,” he added. “This makes sense. It is the only way this family would be able to receive power.”

Assisting with the brief tour were: Vircynthia Charley, journeyman, Kayenta District, Melissa Parrish, apprentice trainee, Kayenta district, and the Public Affairs staff.
